This was a very fun cake to make!
I started with two rich chocolate 1/4 sheet cakes and filled them with chocolate buttercream whipped full of smashed up crunch bars! Then I coated the cake with more chocolate buttercream.
First I put a strip of grey fondant on one end, folded the edges in for the wrapped and brushed it with sparkley silver food coloring. Next I cut out the C and the R from thick chocolate fondant and placed it on the cake. Next, I placed a layer of chocolate fondant over that and smoothed it over the letters to give it the embossed look.
Next I added the blue strip for the wrapper and cut out white fondant for the logo. I had piped the rest of the letters onto the wrapper.
I was pretty darn excited with how it turned out!

This was a Valentine’s cake for someone’s sweetie and I hope they loved it!

My friend: Hey, I was wondering if you could make Amy a Lumpy Space Princess birthday cake?
Me: Yeah… I’m gonna need to google that. Haha.
This thing was awesome. It was a strawberry half sheet cake packed full of a whole carton of strawberries. I carved out the shape of this delightful… creature and slathered it with strawberry buttercream and then covered it with fondant.
I had found quite a few pictures of this character on google and I’d asked which face he wanted her to make. He told me to use whichever one made me smile. I thought this face was hilarious. haha.
I’ve not seen Adventure Time, but I really want to check it out because this cake was a lot of fun to make!

I made this ADORABLE baby shower cake for a lovely lady who is undoubtedly going to have one of the cutest kids ever!

I used a cool recipe for the icing that I’ve not used before… it’s called cloud icing, so I found that fitting.
Ingredients
1 3/4 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
4 egg whites, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
In a saucepan, bring sugar and water to a boil. Boil for 3-4 minutes or until a candy thermometer reads 242 degrees F (firm-ball stage). Meanwhile, beat egg whites and cream of tartar in a mixing bowl until foamy. Slowly pour in hot sugar mixture; continue to beat on high for 7 minutes or until stiff peaks form. Add vanilla. Continue beating until frosting reaches desired consistency, about 2 minutes.
I added an extra tsp of vanilla just to give it a little more body. It turned out great! Yum!
Up where they walk, up where they run, up where they stay all day in the sun…

My niece turned 3 this year and wow… she is just cute as a button!
She wanted a Little Mermaid cake which I thought was super awesome. I mean hey… that’s the kind of cake I would have wanted when I was a kid!
I wanted it to have a cool “under the sea” feeling to it, so I piped coral and sea weed onto wax paper using candy melt. Then when it cooled, I attached it to the side of the cake. I iced the cake with yummy blue buttercream and topped it with the perfect cake topper candle!

It was a huge hit!
I was so excited to see that they’d picked up Ariel plates and cups as well!

And… of COURSE… I had to make the inside count!

“Flounder” blue and yellow zebra cake and strawberry! Yum!
Happy birthday my love!

Well, it’s my very own birthday on Monday. I’ll be… twenty- eight. Woo. I had a brief moment of panic lying in bed last night thinking about how tragically old I am and how I’m going to be ancient and dead any time now.
Then I realized I’m not even 30 yet and I’m making myself a cartoon birthday cake and I’m going to drink like a 21 year old tonight. Then I felt a little better.
Anyhow, on to the cake!
My favorite show of all time is Futurama. And my favorite character on that show is Bender Bending Rodriguez!
So, first of all, this is my birthday, and I’m the cake chick… so my cake has to be awesome. I started with 6 layers of cake. Chocolate, strawberry and vanilla!

I leveled them and stacked them.

This thing is like a foot tall and weighs a ton. I stuck it in the freezer for a bit before carving it.

This was not an icing job for the faint of heart. That’s for sure. All that exposed cake is hard to frost without tearing if you aren’t experienced and using the proper tools. I had to keep heating my spatula in hot water, it turned out well though.

I set it in the fridge to cool a bit while I rolled out the fondant.

My fondant ended up with a weird line in it from when I rolled it onto the rolling pin, but it’s ok, his eyes will cover that.
I mixed up some of my edible silver and painted the whole thing.

Then I added a mouth, which I drew on with food color markers.

Starting to look Bendery! Also, I added his antenna which is part of the dowel I pushed into the cake to keep it from sliding around. It’s just a wooden rod I covered with fondant on top.

I’d LOVE to show you my process of making the eyes, but it was a mess lol. First, I cast eyes out of white chocolate, but they turned out to be too small… so I went with these. It was okay, but the visor was really hard. I ended up sort of stacking two fondant ropes around the eyes. It’s not perfect, but it worked. I also made a cigar, of course.
Happy birthday to me! I planned on cutting it into pieces of each flavor, but who knows, maybe I’ll take the first slice and get a bit of each ;)
Are you ready for some football… cake?

Okay, so most of you know I don’t know much about sports. I usually have to do more googling when something involves sports, vehicles or gaming. Thankfully, I know what a football looks like… I might not be able to tell you how football is played or basically anything else about it, but I can properly identify a football in a line up. So that was a good start.
Lori found me online, which is awesome. Since this is a side hobby for me, I just sort of rely on word of mouth and friends to spread the word about my cakes. So when google did me a solid and brought my page up for Lori, the stars sort of aligned for us and we started emailing back and forth about this cake.
She pretty much gave me free artistic reign on this one, which was awesome of her because I got to figure out what I was going to do. I did a few sketches and set to work. I baked two 8″ rounds for the bottom tier and then two 6″ rounds and a 4″ round for the top tier. I stacked the 6″s and and the 4″ and started carving. All I knew was that I needed it to look like a football!
When it came time to cover the football, I tried cutting triangular strips of fondant to lay on the shape one at a time. It soon became evident this wasn’t the key here… I had to strip the cake down and try something else haha. The pieces needed to be triangular at the top, but flare out in a rounded way in the center and bottom. Once I figured that out, I was golden. I added the stars because, after all, this was for a 6 year old. I didn’t want it to be too serious!
Lori said Lucas loved the cake! And I love this candle arrangement! Happy Birthday Lucas!
Don’t forget my own birthday is coming up next week! And I have a very fun Futurama theme planned! Just you wait!!
Also, here’s a shameless self promotion for you to check out my personal blog for a very dear to my heart story about my husband!
